Scientific, research, navigation, surveying, photographic, cinematographic, audiovisual, optical, weighing, measuring, signaling, detecting, testing, inspecting, life-saving and teaching apparatus and instruments; apparatus and instruments for conducting, switching, transforming, accumulating, regulating or controlling the distribution or use of electricity; apparatus and instruments for recording, transmitting, reproducing or processing sound, images or data; recorded and downloadable media, computer software, blank digital or analog recording and storage media; mechanisms for coin-operated apparatus; cash registers, calculating devices; computers and computer peripheral devices; diving suits, divers’ masks, ear plugs for divers, nose clips for divers and swimmers, gloves for divers, breathing apparatus for underwater swimming; fire-extinguishing apparatus.
Class 9 is one of the very tricky classes in the Nice classification because of its overlap with other classes that may sometimes be difficult to distinguish due to their great similarity, Among these classes the following:
1- Class 7 which includes joysticks being parts of machines, other than game machines, coin-operated washing machines…ETC.
2- Class 10 which includes pulse meters, heart rate monitoring apparatus, and body composition monitors.
3- Class 11 which includes laboratory lamps, laboratory burners, and diving lights.
4- Class 12 which includes vehicle joysticks.
5- Class 13 which includes explosive fog signals, and signal rocket flares.
6- Class 16 which includes histological sections for teaching purposes, and biological samples for use in microscopy as teaching materials.
7- Class 28 which includes joysticks for video games, controllers for toys, game consoles, toy robots, clothing, and equipment worn for the practice of certain sports, for example, protective paddings being parts of sports suits, fencing masks, boxing gloves.
8- Class 42 which includes technology, scientific, and research services.
The confusion between class 9 and the classes mentioned above comes due to the branching of class 9 into more than one different Subsection that falls under it and among these subsections the following:
